Christopher Peckney died while assembling a device for a party to determine the sex of the child
According to police, the future father from the state of New York died after the explosion of a device he created specifically for a party to determine the sex of his child.
Christopher Peckney, 28, was assembling a device in Liberty when it suddenly exploded.
Police said Mr Peckney was killed and his 27-year-old brother, Michael Peckney, was hospitalized.
At sex parties, it is announced who will be born to the future parents – a girl or a boy.
Police do not say which device caused the blast that killed Mr Pekni. The New York State Police Department and its bomb disposal unit are investigating the incident.
A state police spokesman told the New York Times that the device consisted of a pipe. He did not provide further details.
In an interview with the newspaper, the victim’s older brother, Peter Peckney Jr., described the incident as “the strangest case I could have imagined.” He does not know what caused the explosion.
Christopher Pekney’s death is not the first at such parties.
They can organize predictive games, often using fireworks and colored smoke grenades.
Earlier, several similar large-scale parties went wrong, several people died.
Police said a Michigan man was killed in early February by shrapnel from a “small cannon-type device” used during a party.
Two other sex parties were named to cause forest fires in California in September 2020 and in Arizona in April 2017.
The Eldorado fire in California destroyed more than 19,000 acres of land, destroyed homes and forced hundreds of people to flee their homes.
