The head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, said that “ammonium nitrate was brought and used to hit Syrian cities with barrels instead of chemical weapons for the sake of destruction, calling for the continuation of the investigation and Judge Fadi Al-Aridi objected and thankfully for the objection.”
He added in an interview with “LBCI”: “When we go into the details of the bombing, we are lost, and I want to know who brought the materials and caused the explosion, and we want to know who brought these materials from the Lebanese and the allies of the Syrian regime.”
He said, “We want to investigate who brought the materials of nuts to the port of Beirut and many of the judges have a conscience. It is not permissible for the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, to dictate to us in his speech that we move from the investigation to compensation and international justice is available, but at the same time what is required is to lift the guardianship from the Lebanese judiciary. Is the Lebanese entity recognized, or has it become a geographical area for Iran’s missiles? ”
Regarding the government formation file, Jumblatt made it clear that he did not demand anything, which is the proposal of Professor Abbas Al-Halabi, but the Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri said that he is the one named according to the French initiative.
He continued, saying: “Basil took over the whole country, and we thank Hezbollah, which delivered everything. Today, we want an independent body and an independent judiciary to try us, and Bassil is not innocent and we are all accused.”
He mentioned that Bassil wanted Nabih Berri, Saad Hariri, Walid Jumblatt, Samir Geagea, and all the people to be annulled. “I do not advise Hariri to apologize, but he is the one who decides that,” he added.
He pointed out that “reform revolves around the Ministry of Energy, and we are still in our place for three years until today, and French President Emmanuel Macron proposed restructuring the banks, and what is required is a government that can come up with a minimum of reform.” And he considered that there is a voice calling for a founding conference, which means ending what remains of Taif and sovereignty, and this is the biggest crime and the biggest mistake.
Jumblatt called for “a judiciary independent of politics, and for President Michel Aoun to release the judicial formations that have been suspended for years, and we enact laws with Speaker Berri, but they cannot be implemented due to the absence of the minimum level of sovereignty.” He explained that “there is a force called Hezbollah affiliated to a large empire, which is Iran, which obligated the country to an abolitionist category, and we ask Mr. Hassan whether they recognize the Lebanese entity or have Lebanon become attached to Iran?” That a kind of international convergence must be found to preserve the Lebanese entity, but I am not one of those who dream of returning to international decisions as Resolution 1559. He mentioned that Kamal Jumblatt tried peacefully to change the regime, but there was an Arab consensus on not changing, so the Syrian regime entered Lebanon and killed Kamal Jumblatt because he was A symbol of change. The Arab revolution was suppressed, but it was launched from Beirut and I am not without hope.
Jumblatt indicated that Berri wants Lebanon to have one constituency in the elections, and we will study the issue, but we will see if it is implemented and I do not imagine that the parliamentary elections will be postponed and there are forces that have political weight, despite everything and despite our number we have our weight. “Political assassinations are carried out” on demand, “just like the return of ISIS,” he added.
He pointed out, “Former US President Donald Trump imposed the relationship with Israel on some Arab countries, and I am an Arab historian, but it is not my business to interfere with the affairs of Arab countries such as the Emirates, and we are not all Iranians, but we are Lebanese.” He stressed that we do not want to be a commodity for negotiations at the table of superpowers, and it is our right to demand that weapons be under the command of the army.
