In an interview with the “Twenty 30” program via LBCI, Jumblatt considered that “it is not permissible for the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to dictate to us in his speech that we move from investigation to compensation,” stressing that “what is required is to lift the guardianship from the Lebanese judiciary.”
Jumblatt asked Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah: “Do you recognize the Lebanese entity, or have Lebanon become attached to Iran?”
The President of the Progressive Socialist Party touched on the government file, stressing that “what is needed is a government that can carry out the minimum level of reform,” noting that “reform revolves around the Ministry of Energy, and we are still in our place for three years until today, and Macron proposed restructuring banks.”
Jumblatt said: “The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, has taken over the whole country in terms of the judiciary, security and foreign affairs, and I want an independent body and an independent judiciary to hold me accountable.”
He pointed out that “there is a voice calling for a founding conference, which means ending what is left of Taif and sovereignty,” and saw it as the biggest crime and the biggest mistake.
Jumblatt supported the proposal of the Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, and said: “I meet the Patriarch’s words to create a kind of international meeting to preserve the Lebanese entity, but I am not one of those who dream of returning to international resolutions such as Resolution 1559.”
He added, “The Patriarch called for neutrality for the sake of Lebanon, the entity, and not only for the sake of the Christians, and we are with the entity,” stressing that “we do not want to be a commodity for negotiations at the table of superpowers.”
