At present, major cities across mainland China have been connected to high-speed rail, but a more ambitious plan in the future is coming, that is, the maglev railway!
The speed of the high-speed rail is more than 300 kilometers per hour, but the maglev railway is almost twice as fast, reaching 600 kilometers. Once the maglev is connected, the travel time is nearly half shorter than that of the high-speed rail.
China’s maglev train is expected to be put into mass production this year.
Guangdong Province has recently launched an ambitious maglev train plan. The Department of Land and Resources of Guangdong Province issued the “Guangdong Province Land and Space Planning 2020-2035”, which interpreted and displayed the land and space arrangements for the next 15 years. The plan proposes that the permanent population of Guangdong Province will grow at an average annual growth rate of about 1.15 million, reaching 130 million by 2035. At the same time, the provincial space will reserve Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao high-speed magnetic levitation and Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation channels.
The “Plan” is clear: Two high-speed magnetic levitation corridors will be reserved in the provincial space, namely the vertical “Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao high-speed magnetic levitation” and the horizontal coastal “Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation” corridor. From the perspective of the route, the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao high-speed magnetic levitation corresponds to the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao passage in the “three horizontal and six vertical two-links”, and the Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation corresponds to the national coastal passage.
This is the first time Guangdong has proposed to reserve the Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation channel. Shenzhen is about 1,500 kilometers from Shanghai. If the speed is 600 kilometers per hour, it will take about 2.5 hours to communicate with Shenzhen and Shanghai. Shenzhen is about 2,200 kilometers from Beijing. If you take the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao high-speed magnetic levitation, you can reach Beijing in about 3.6 hours, which is more than half the time than the high-speed rail.
The orange in the picture is the Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation channel. The first to be constructed is the Guangzhou-Shenzhen section, which can then be connected to the Kowloon Station in Hong Kong.
It should be noted that the Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation proposed in the “Planning” is currently only a reserved corridor, not a new line entering the planning and construction stage. However, according to previously officially announced information, the Shanghai (Shenzhen)-Guangzhou high-speed magnetic levitation may be the first to build the Guangzhou-Shenzhen section.
In September 2020, He Huawu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stated at the “International Conference on Innovation and Emerging Industry Development” that there are currently two studies on the route selection plan for the 600 km/h high-speed maglev train in China, namely Shanghai-Hangzhou Maglev and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Maglev. Among them, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Maglev will choose the plan of Guangzhou East to Shenzhen Xiangmihu East Station, with a total length of about 110 kilometers, including Guangzhou East Station, Dongguan Hadi Station, and Shenzhen Xiangmihu Station. It is expected to be connected to Hong Kong Kowloon Station in the future.
Calculated at a speed of 600 kilometers per hour, after the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Maglev Railway is put into operation, the two airports of Guangzhou-Shenzhen can be reached in more than 20 minutes (including stop time), creating a high-speed passage between the two downtown areas and realizing the integration of Guangzhou and Shenzhen. .
At present, the transportation between Guangzhou and Shenzhen is very convenient. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway with a speed of 200 kilometers per hour and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour have brought the two cities closer in time and space. But the traffic pressure between the two places has also begun to show up, especially during holidays. For the high-speed magnetic levitation channel between Guangzhou and Shenzhen, the current market expectations are as follows:
1. Baiyun Airport-Guangzhou Railway Station-Nansha Hub-Bao’an Airport-Qianhai-Hong Kong West Kowloon;
2. Baiyun Airport-Zhujiang New Town-Nansha Hub-Bao’an Airport-Qianhai-Hong Kong West Kowloon;
3. Baiyun Airport-Tianhe Park-Bao’an Airport-Qianhai-Hong Kong West Kowloon;
4. Baiyun Airport-Tianhe Park-Dongguan City Center-Futian-Hong Kong West Kowloon.
It can be seen from the current public route plan that experts are even more inclined to the plan from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Shenzhen Xiangmihu.
Guangdong is also planning five metropolitan areas.
In addition to the magnetic levitation, the “Planning” also proposes that Guangdong will build the Guangzhou metropolitan area, the Shenzhen metropolitan area, and the Pearl River Estuary west bank metropolitan area, centered on super-large cities and large cities with strong radiation-driven functions, and a 1-hour commuting circle as the basic scope. There are 5 modern metropolitan areas, including Shanchaojie Metropolitan Circle and Zhanmao Metropolitan Circle.
In addition, the “Planning” plans to build a “12312” transportation circle. Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shanchaojie Metropolitan Area, and Zhanmao Metropolitan Area within a 1-hour traffic circle; Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to the east, west and north regions of Guangdong form a 2-hour traffic circle; 3-hour access to major cities across the country and Southeast Asia; 12-hour access Major cities in the world.
To this end, Guangdong must build a comprehensive transportation system of “three horizontals, six verticals and two connections”. The “Planning” proposes that in the future, Guangdong will form a spatial pattern of “one nuclear, two poles and multiple pivots”.
In the future, Guangdong Province will link up with Hong Kong and Macau through the twin cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen to drive the whole province.
“One core” means that in the future, it will strengthen the core leading role of the Pearl River Delta, promote the linkage of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, promote the integration of the east and west sides of the Pearl River Estuary, and join hands with Hong Kong and Macao to build a world-class bay area and world-class city clusters, forming the main driving force for the development of the province. Power source.
The “two poles” include supporting Shantou and Zhanjiang’s construction of a provincial sub-central city, cultivating the Shantou Jiecheng metropolitan area and the Zhanmao metropolitan area, promoting the effective connection and coordination of Hong Kong-industry-city, and turning the eastern and western regions into new growth poles in the province. The coastal areas of the Pearl River Delta will jointly build a world-class coastal economic belt.
“Multiple fulcrums” means that in the future, several important development fulcrums will be built to enhance the strategic fulcrum functions of Shanwei and Yangjiang, create the Pearl River Delta industrial transfer bearing site, industrial chain extension area and industrial cluster supporting bases, and strengthen Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Yunfu, Comprehensive service capabilities in the northern ecological development areas such as Heyuan and Meizhou, and prefecture-level downtown areas.
In general, the 15-year plan of Guangdong Province is very ambitious and has a broad field of vision. Simply launching the construction of the maglev railway is an ambitious plan.
