The “official Syrian News Agency” (SANA) reported that Al-Miqdad discussed with Pedersen “the political track and the economic situation, and views were agreed that unilateral coercive economic measures make this situation more difficult, especially in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic.”

The two sides stressed the importance of “ensuring non-interference in the affairs of the Constitution Debating Committee, and ensuring that all this process takes place under the leadership and ownership of Syria, and that no timetables are set for its work imposed from outside.”
SANA said that Al-Miqdad “stressed the importance of the special envoy preserving his role as a neutral facilitator, and that since the committee was formed and started its work, it has become a lady of itself, and it is the one that decides on the recommendations that can come out with it and how its work proceeds with the assurance that the Syrian people are The owner of the exclusive right to determine the future of his country ».
Al-Miqdad said, in a videoconference in front of the high-level segment during the 46th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva: “Whoever claims that these coercive measures do not extend to ordinary citizens is lying, because they only extend to these citizens in their basic needs.” Once again, “Syria’s resolve To continue to fight terrorism and to exercise its legal right to end any illegal presence on its territory.
Al-Miqdad said: “With the conclusion of the meetings of the fifth round of the constitution discussion committee, which was held with the facilitation of the United Nations in Geneva recently, I would like to reiterate that the committee is the lady of itself and the exclusive decision-maker to decide its course of action and the results that it can reach, and that its success in the task Entrusted to it requires commitment to the conduct of this process under the leadership and ownership of Syria, non-interference in its affairs by any party, and respect for the exclusive right of the Syrian people to determine the future of their country.
