While voice is being raised against child marriage all over the world, a shocking case has come out from Balochistan, Pakistan. Here, a 62-year-old MP Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi has married a 14-year-old minor girl. However, the government has ordered a police investigation. Salahuddin is an MP from Chitral in Balochistan. Police said that an NGO has given information about this marriage.
Birth certificate of the girl revealed
According to a report by ‘The Dawn’, the girl’s school presented her birth certificate to the media. It states her date of birth as 28 October 2006. A local NGO then lodged a police complaint. It will now be investigated.
Girl’s father denied any kind of marriage
At the same time, when the local police reached the girl’s house on receiving the complaint, her father refused her daughter’s marriage. He said that my daughter is not married at all. The DPO of the police said that the girl’s father has assured us that he will never send his daughter to that MP.
Transgression of a girl under 16 years of crime in Pakistan
In Pakistan, marriage age of girls has been fixed at 16 years. If it is married at a young age, then it will legally be considered a crime and it can also be punished.
