According to the Aero Telegraph, Marcos Rosello expects the carrier to start operating in the next few months.
“The plan is to start at the end of April or the beginning of May. We are currently working on obtaining an AOC (Air Operator’s Certificate),” Rosello told the German portal.
The project, which involves starting a Croatian startup company, is called Fly Air 41, after an IT airline whose director once owned Sundair.
However, it is uncertain whether the new company will have the same name.
“We still don’t want to comment on the details,” Rosello said.
The new company will not be a subsidiary of Sander and will not replace the German charter carrier, which will continue to operate independently.
Sundair, which has bases in several German cities, has a fleet of seven aircraft – two Airbus A319s and five A320s. This summer, the company will establish seasonal flights from Dusseldorf and Berlin to Brac.
As stated by Marcos Roselo, the newly established Croatian company is in negotiations with business partners, as well as with the German tour operator Schauinsland-Reisen.
As a result, Ex-Yu Aviation reports, Croatia could have two new companies set up in the country this year. Charter carrier ETF Airways, which is supported by local Croatian investors, is in the late stages of preparation for the establishment of operations with the Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The plane is expected to arrive in the country at the earliest next month.
ETF Airways is expected to start operating in April, if it obtains all the necessary permits. The aircraft will be used for charter flights under a lease covering aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI). The ETF intends to focus on routes from the Croatian part of the Adriatic coast – from Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Zadar to airports in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
