The death toll from the coronavirus has risen to more than 500,000 in the United States. The first death from the virus occurred in Santa Clara County, California, more than a year ago. President Joe Biden on Friday ordered the US flag to be flown at half-mast to mourn the victims of the devastating epidemic. In the declaration, Biden said Americans must remember the dead so that we can recover, come together and win the epidemic as a nation.
According to Reuters, the bell was rung 500 times in memory of the dead at Washington’s National Cathedral. Biden addressed the White House shortly after the bell rang. “We know the death toll in Corona is high in the United States, but we need to remember these people,” he said. Vice President Kamala Harris also mourned the loss with the song ‘Amazing Grace’.
So far, about 26 million people in the United States have been infected with corona. However, the rate of infection and the number of deaths in the country is rapidly declining. The United States accounts for 19 percent of all deaths in Corona worldwide. But only 4 percent of the people live in the country.
