Riots on June 20, 2019 in Georgia
The reason for the protest actions organized by the opposition, which began in Tbilisi in June 2019, was the plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, held in the Georgian parliament. During it, the deputy of the Russian State Duma Sergei Gavrilov took the place of the speaker of parliament and chaired the meeting in Russian. As a result of clashes between protesters and the police, several hundred people were injured.
