The message was sent by German Ambassador to Pristina Jorn Rode, as part of congratulations to the candidate for Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, for the election victory, and the words of the German diplomat can be interpreted as a kind of response to Kurti’s plans to treat dialogue with Belgrade. .
Rode stated that Germany and France call for the quick formation of the Kosovo government and the election of the president, to look forward to an ambitious reform program, as well as to support the continuation of the dialogue under the auspices of the EU, which leads to “further European integration of both countries”.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said on Monday that she was surprised by the statement of the leader of Self-Determination, Albin Kurti, that dialogue is only in the sixth or seventh place, because the quality of life of all citizens in Kosovo and Metohija depends on dialogue with Belgrade.
– There is no perspective, neither European, nor economic, without an agreement with Belgrade. It depends on that dialogue whether someone will invest in Kosovo and create new jobs, and no one will invest where there is instability and an uncertain future. I may be too pragmatic, but that would be the number one priority for me – Brnabić said for TV Happy.
However, even if Kurti turns the tables as soon as he takes office as prime minister, and puts dialogue, at least in words, in the foreground, his party will face a new challenge, which is to gather a majority in the Assembly to elect the president of the temporary institutions. Since former President Hashim Thaci resigned due to the indictment for war crimes, Vlosa Osmani has been in that position and he can stay in it for the longest time until the beginning of May.
Osmanijeva, once a member of the LDK Isa Mustafa, was on the “Self-Determination” list in the just-concluded parliamentary elections, and according to the signed agreement, she should be a candidate for president in front of Kurti’s movement. In order for that to happen, they will need two thirds of the parliamentary votes, that is, 80 out of 120, and Kurti will definitely put the solution of this equation in front of the Brussels dialogue, which gives little chances for progress in this field in the next two months.
ANNOUNCES THE CONVICTION OF THE FIVE
WE INTEND to have intensive cooperation with five EU member states that have not recognized the independence of Kosovo – Spain, Slovakia, Romania, Greece and Cyprus. We must convince these countries that they should not be afraid of recognizing Kosovo’s independence and that Kosovo should not be compared to Serbia, Kurti said on Monday, reiterating that he would “make a concession” and put dialogue with Serbia as the government’s fourth priority after employment. , the rule of law and the corona virus pandemic.
