Highlights

  • The Pakistani Prime Minister is going to Sri Lanka on a two-day visit
  • During his two-day visit, Imran will hold bilateral meetings with Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

This time the digital desk: India extended a hand of courtesy to the neighboring country. New Delhi has allowed Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s plane to enter Indian airspace. The Pakistani Prime Minister is going to Sri Lanka on a two-day visit. On his way to Sri Lanka, Imran was reportedly allowed to enter Indian airspace. New Delhi’s move seems to have added another dimension to the atmosphere of ‘bitter’ relations between the two countries. Earlier, during a visit to the United States and Saudi Arabia in 2019, Pakistan did not allow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plane to enter its airspace.

During his two-day visit, Imran is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Health, education, technology, agriculture, defense, tourism could be discussed. Imran will be accompanied by Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and a delegation of high-ranking businessmen.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has canceled Imran’s speech in the country’s parliament to avoid a conflict with India. The report, published in the Colombo Gazette, claimed that Colombo did not want to take any risks so as not to spoil relations with India. And so Imran’s speech in Parliament has been canceled.

In Disha Ravi debate, Sarab Pakistan, Modi-RSS are targeted by Imran Khan’s party
It is to be noted that the Imran Khan government has been repeatedly seen to be vocal about India’s internal issues. Islamabad has been vocal on the Jammu and Kashmir issue more than once. New Delhi has given a strong message every time. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the political party of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, has recently spoken out against the arrest of environmental activist Disha Robi in a toolkit case. The ruling party of Pakistan wrote on Twitter, “Everyone is being silenced in India during the Modi / RSS era ….” In this context, the courtesy shown by New Delhi in allowing Imran’s aircraft to enter Indian airspace is considered significant.
