This 2008 Miss Sinaloa married the famous “El Chapo” in 2007, at the time when he was hiding from the justice system after escaping from prison six years earlier. “Coronel Aispuro was probably aware of the massive shipments of cocaine, heroin and other drugs by the Sinaloa cartel to the US and realized that the financial proceeds she supervised (…) came from these deliveries, “it was written in the court papers, excerpts of which were quoted in its Monday report by NBC News.
These documents show that an unidentified FBI agent, citing a former member of the cartel’s management who agreed to be a key witness, testified that in 2015, when “El Chapo” was a prisoner in a maximum security facility in Altiplano, his wife helped him organize the construction of the tunnel 1600 meters long. The tunnel was equipped with ventilation ducts and rails on which a special vehicle moved. When the existence of the tunnel was revealed and “El Chapo” was caught, Emma Coronel Aispuro began planning his next escape.
“El Chapo” was convicted in 2019 after being presented to him 10 allegations of years of criminal activity and the smuggling of tons of cocaine into the US. It is said on life imprisonment plus thirty years, without parole. He was also ordered to forfeit property in the amount of USD 12.6 billion.
“El Chapo” was the leading leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. In the late 1990s, he served a life sentence in Mexico, incl. because of his involvement in the murder of the Mexican Catholic hierarch. Card.
