The implementation of practical measures within the framework of Ukraine’s cooperation with NATO in the format of the Partnership for Enhanced Opportunities will provide additional impetus in relations with the North Atlantic Alliance.
As Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, this was emphasized by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran during a meeting in QUINT format, which was attended by the heads of defense ministries of Canada, the United States, Lithuania, Poland and the United Kingdom.
“The Minister of Defense of Ukraine acquainted the heads of defense departments of the partner countries with changes in the security situation in eastern Ukraine and the Azov-Black Sea region, with the current state of implementation of defense reform, and outlined the main priorities of the Ministry of Defense and development of the Armed Forces.” it is said in the message.
It is noted that Taran informed his colleagues about the key priorities of national interests in the field of security and defense on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration. Including in the context of the implementation of practical measures in the framework of Ukraine’s cooperation with NATO in the format of the Partnership for Enhanced Opportunities, which will provide additional impetus to relations with the North Atlantic Alliance.
During the discussion, its participants discussed new forms and methods of more efficient use of human, material and financial resources to ensure the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine and strengthen the defense capabilities of our country.
Andriy Taran also thanked for the constant support of the partners and stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in multilateral and bilateral formats.
The Heads of Defense of the United Kingdom, Canada, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Poland and the United States assured the Ukrainian side of full support, including sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders and security and defense sector reform.
The QUINT meeting confirmed the willingness of the parties to further cooperation in this format.

As reported, Ukraine and NATO additional measures and practical steps will be developed this year to improve the interoperability of the armed forces under the Enhanced Partnership Program.
