Iran announced, on Tuesday, that it was suspending the implementation of the additional protocol to the nuclear deal that allows the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) surprise inspection.
This comes after Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s envoy to the IAEA, announced that Tehran would end the additional protocol that allows the International Atomic Energy Agency to carry out surprise inspections at undisclosed locations of the agency at 2030 GMT.
“Starting at midnight tonight (2030 GMT) we will not have … obligations except for safety measures. The necessary orders have been issued for the nuclear facilities,” Abadi said.
And last Saturday, Iran announced that it would suspend the additional protocol in the nuclear deal, starting today, Tuesday.
Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, said that Tehran’s work with this additional protocol will stop, pointing out that discussions with the director of the International Agency for Cooperation after that and inspecting Iranian nuclear facilities will be in accordance with the Treaty on the Limitation of Nuclear Weapons.
Salehi pointed out, according to press statements, the futility of leaking classified information about Tehran’s nuclear activity to the media, calling on the international agency to act with impartiality and professionalism and not to leak classified reports, according to his claim.
A confidential report by the International Atomic Energy Agency recently revealed that Iran has begun work on an assembly line to produce a basic material for manufacturing nuclear warheads.
The UN agency confirmed that the 2MIR centrifuges will be installed at the underground uranium enrichment plant in Natanz, which will further violate the nuclear deal.
“Iran has indicated that it plans to install two additional series of 174 IR-2m centrifuges at the fuel enrichment plant to enrich uranium-235 to a purity of 5%,” the IAEA said in a report to member states.
This brings the total number of IR-2m series centrifuges scheduled to be installed, installed or already operating in the facility to 6.
