Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Sultanate of Oman and Kuwait announced additional precautionary measures to confront the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), most notably the suspension of entry to the Sultanate of Oman from 10 countries, and the closure of land and sea ports to Kuwait while continuing Banning entry to non-Kuwaiti airline passengers.
In the Sultanate of Oman, the Supreme Committee in charge of discussing the mechanism of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Corona virus decided to suspend entry to the Sultanate of those coming from 10 countries: Sudan, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia.
The committee also decided to suspend entry to those coming from any other countries if they had passed through any of the ten aforementioned countries during the 14 days preceding the request to enter the Sultanate, starting at 12 am next Thursday 25 February, for a period of 15 days, with an exception Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers and their families, who will be subject to the approved procedures upon entering the Sultanate.
In Kuwait, the Council of Ministers decided, based on the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee for Corona Emergencies, to close the border and sea ports, from Wednesday 24 February until further notice, with the exception of shipping operations and workers in the divided zone and their relatives, while allowing the return of citizens from the ports Land and sea and their first-degree relatives and their companions are domestic workers.
Last Sunday, the Kuwait Civil Aviation Administration announced the extension of the decision to prevent non-Kuwaiti passengers from entering Kuwait until further notice, with the continued entry of Kuwaiti passengers and subject to institutional quarantine in one of the approved local hotels for a period of 7 days and the completion of the quarantine period for another 7 days in home quarantine.
