Dutch officials announced that they started an investigation into the Boeing 747-400 type cargo plane whose engine parts crashed shortly after takeoff.
The Longtail Aviation Flight cargo plane took off from Maastricht airport in the town of Meerssen on Saturday.
Small pieces of metal falling from the engine shortly after takeoff caused a woman’s injury and some homes and vehicles were damaged.
The eyewitness reported that one of the engines of the plane, which landed safely at Liège airport in Belgium, about 30 km away, had caught fire.
It is stated that the cargo plane, which is supposed to fly to New York city of the USA, has the smaller version of the engine of the United Airlines Boeing 777 type aircraft (Pratt & Whitney PW4000), which had a similar incident in the country on Saturday.
Shortly after taking off from Denver, USA, parts of the plane, which had to make an emergency landing due to a problem with its engine, fell into residential areas.
US manufacturer Boeing, after the event, for 777 type aircraft ‘downing‘had made the call.
