Apple’s Silver Sparrow virus attacks Mac computers

The Silver Sparrow computer virus is dangerous for Apple computers and has already infected more than 30 thousand Macs.

This is stated in the report of the Red Canary company, which specializes in cybersecurity. According to them, both devices based on the new M1 chip and models based on Intel were hit.

The experts explained that the Silver Sparrow virus is a binary file and uses the JavaScript programming language to execute commands on macOS. The malware has two options, the first with a mach-object binary compiled for Intel processors, and the second targeting devices with the Apple M1 chip.

It is also noted that the virus begins to attack only when a certain action is performed, but which one, the experts did not find out.

In addition, the virus can self-destruct, which usually means programs with a high degree of stealth. Experts also believe that Silver Sparrow is just a program for the subsequent download and execution of other code of hacker viruses.

Apple said it has already begun measures to protect computers from the threat.

Recall that Apple has introduced a new MacBook Air, which is based on the new Apple Silicon (M1) processor.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the popular application has infected millions of Android smartphones with a virus.
