Cows had been composed for so many days in the children’s curriculum. But the Indian government has no fault in trying to bring the animal to the forefront. The government is organizing an experiment called Go Science. 5 lakh people have already written their names in it. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also sent instructions to 900 universities in the country to that effect.
Students have been asked to sit for this government exam on cattle online. But Jadavpur University made it clear that no such test would be taken. Samantak Das, a teacher in the Department of Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University, said, “The UGC has sent letters to this effect not only to Jadavpur University but to all the universities in the country. But this test is not being done in Jadavpur.
Rajeswar Singh, head of the Bangla department, said, ‘Jadavpur University promotes a science-minded, secular education system, which should be the responsibility of the state. There is no place to force such a thing. Especially at this time when the Corona situation is going on. Research on these issues seems to have been much more urgent. Instead, an attempt was made to impose a philosophy in the name of testing such a subject. But for now, not much is happening at Jadavpur University. The decision has been made.
In India, the budget allocation for research and development has not increased in proportion to the gross domestic product (GDP) over the last two decades. It is stuck between 0.7 to 0.6 percent. The United States (2.6%), China (2.1%), Israel (4.3%) and Korea (4.2%) are the countries with which India wants to compete in technology. In India, it should be at least 2% of GDP, according to the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council. The experts of the country are not taking this opinion well with regard to the science of allocation in research.
