TEHERAN – Supreme Leader Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Iran might enrich uranium to 60% purity if the country needed it.

He stressed that Iran will never give in to pressure from the United States (US) for its nuclear activities.

The 2015 Iran nuclear deal with six world powers has been violated since the United States stepped down in 2018. The deal limits Iran to only enrich uranium at a purity of 3.67%, well below the 20% purity reached before the deal and well below the 90% that could be. for nuclear weapons.

“Iran’s uranium enrichment rate will not be limited to 20%. We will upgrade it to whatever level the country needs. We can increase it to 60%, “said Khamenei, raising the stakes in a dispute with US President Joe Biden’s administration over the future of the nuclear deal.

“The Americans and Europeans in the agreement have used language that is unfair to Iran. Iran will not give in to pressure. Our attitude will not change, “said Khamenei.
