The state of Texas suffers from frost atypical for the American South. Local power grids were not ready for the cold, which left residents without electricity and heat.
Also, millions of Texas homes have no water, as water pipes burst from frost.
Local residents share photos of how they get out of this situation on social networks (to see the photo, scroll to the bottom of the page).
So, some use the grill for cooking, while others build structures from cans and candles to heat food.

Lights and heating in homes are being replaced by flashlights and fireplaces.

To get water for domestic needs, Texans drown snow in pots.
“10 liters of snow = 1 liter of water,” wrote a local resident.

Note that there was a shortage of food in stores after people rushed to buy supplies in panic.

Free distribution points for bottled water and food rations were organized in the cities.
