Julia Navalna arrived in Moscow from Frankfurt am Main, but without her children.
The wife of the convicted Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny returned from Germany to Russia on Monday. The news portal 112 on the social network Telegram informed about it.
Julia Navalna arrived in Moscow from Frankfurt am Main, but without her children. She did not comment on her return to Russia in front of journalists who met at the airport.
She traveled to Germany on February 10. According to the German news magazine Der Spiegel, it was a private visit.
During Navalna’s absence from Russia, her husband was in custody and his prosecution continued, with a verdict in the case of defamation of a World War II veteran and a decision on appeal in the Yves Rocher case being handed down last Saturday.
In the case of defamation, Navalny must pay a fine of 850,000 rubles (about 9500 euros).
Another court in Moscow on the same day upheld the unconditional sentence of imprisonment for the alleged embezzlement of tens of millions of rubles by Yves Rocher. At the same time, the court reduced Navalný’s length of the sentence already imposed by one and a half months, which he spent in domestic prison from the end of December 2014 to the end of February 2015. Navalny will be in prison for two years and six months.
The trial took place at the instigation of the Russian Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences (FSIN), according to which Navalny repeatedly failed to attend a meeting with a probation officer. That obligation arose from the suspended sentence on which he was sentenced in the Yves Rocher case.
On January 17, Alexei Navalny returned to Russia from Germany, where he was treated from last year’s poisoning with the nerve-paralytic substance of the novices. Immediately after his arrival in Moscow, he was detained and taken into custody.
