New study shows: Corona vaccines protect against hospitalization! – Counselor

Britain celebrates the vaccines! According to a new study, the risk of having to be treated in hospital for corona drops significantly after you have received the first vaccination.

This was the result of research by researchers from the universities of Edinburgh, Strathclyde, Aberdeen, Glasgow St. Andrews and the Scottish Public Health Scotland. During the investigation, the experts used a data set that examined the entire Scottish population – around 5.4 million people!

The researchers compared people who had already received the first injection with those who had not yet been vaccinated.

The vaccines from Pfizer / Biontech and AstraZeneca were examined.

The result: a single dose of the Biontech vaccine already protects 85 percent against hospitalization after four weeks. The AstraZeneca vaccine then even achieves a protective effect of up to 94 percent!

The head of the investigation, Professor Aziz Sheikh (52), on the British TV broadcaster Sky News: “These results are very encouraging and give us cause to look to the future with optimism. We now have evidence, even covering an entire country, that vaccination offers protection against hospitalization. “
