Mother froze to death boy (11) Texas demands 100 million dollars from energy company | Abroad

Extremely cold winter weather in the US state of Texas caused approximately two million households to be without electricity last week. That has now been solved, but the problem now is drinking water. The power cuts of the past five days have also shut down the water treatment plants.

Cristian’s household was also affected by the power outage. The boy came to the United States from his native Honduras in 2019, together with his mother and brothers and sisters, to build a better life. That reports BBC News. The family was without power for two days and was forced to huddle together for some warmth. When his mother tried to wake Cristian in the morning, he stopped responding. The woman resuscitated her son, but to no avail. 11-year-old Cristian had died on the spot.

‘Bad communication’

The woman holds two energy companies responsible for his death. According to her, the companies ignored calls to make the installations ‘winter ready’. “ERCOT and Entergy have not taken any preventive action that could have averted the crisis,” the charges said. Also, according to the family’s lawyer, the companies communicated extremely poorly with their customers prior to the freezing cold.
