A real leftist madness! German Greenpeace calls for a ban on advertising meat, Sylwia Spurek is running her own crusade against animal products and wants to ban advertising also milk and dairy products. In France, on the other hand, the mayor of Lyon decided that the same, meatless set of dishes is served in all school canteens in the city.

– Ideological departure! Spurek fights for plant products to be described as “chops”, “pates” and “burgers”

Meatless meals in canteens. Farmers and politicians protest
The mayor of Lyon, Gregory Doucet, is a member of the Green party. The decision to offer only meatless meals sparked a wave of protests.
Let’s stop putting ideology in our students’ plates. Let us give them to eat what allows them to grow, and meat is such food
– emphasized the Minister of Agriculture Julien Denormandie, who ordered the prefect of the Rhône department to deal with the case.
On Monday, farmers from the Rhone department demonstrated in front of the Lyon City Hall in protest “against the mayor’s decision and the lack of government involvement.”
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin described the mayor’s decision as a “scandalous ideology” and accused the Greens of “not only offending French farmers and butchers.”
Moralizing and elitist politics exclude poorer people, because there are many children who only eat meat in the canteen
– said the head of the Ministry of the Interior.
No meat as a way to fight coronavirus?
Doucet claims that he was not guided by ideology in making decisions, but by concern for efficiency in delivering products during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The majority representatives in Lyon City Council also argue that the canteens will still serve eggs and fish. They also found that the menu, including all the necessary nutritional values, suited the tastes of most students.
Provocation and hypocrisy
The explanations do not convince Laurent Wauquiez, president of the Rhône-Alpes region. In a Facebook post, he condemned the mayor’s decision, calling it “a provocation and a particular form of hypocrisy” of the Greens and the far left.
First, there is some form of hypocrisy. Rather than making it clear that “we want to make the children not eat meat,” we have an excuse for a health crisis. This hypocrisy, which goes forward in an ideological secret, is especially shocking when it comes to children. The region manages a hundred canteens, and we are able to serve meat by organizing student flows. The second surprise is the complete lack of family consultation. Those who have waved consultation and participation with ease when it comes to supporting ZAD or opposing the project suddenly move forward without discussing with families who are the first to be interested
Wauquiez pointed out.
The health crisis requires adjustment, but it is not the children who have to adapt. On the contrary, we are doing our best to protect them during this time
– emphasized the politician.
