Thunderbolt in the world of electronic music: the group Daft Punk announced its separation Monday morning after 28 years of existence.
With their usual sense of direction, the duo, which is formed by French DJs Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, made the announcement on Monday morning in a clip of nearly eight minutes titled Epilogue. We see the two famous humanoids, wearing their helmets, walking in a sort of desert – a scene from their 2006 film Electrome -, and where one of the two triggers a countdown and detonates the other.
The explosion is followed by an epitaph (1993-2021), and then begins a new version of their play Touch, which is taken from Random Access Memories, their fourth and last album released in 2013 and featuring the mega hit Get Lucky, recorded with Pharrell Williams.
News of their separation has been confirmed to the sites Pitchfork and Variety by their representative Kathryn Frazier, but the reason was not disclosed.
