On Saturday afternoon, a large piece of United Airlines’ Boeing 777 crashed into a house in the suburbs of Denver, USA. The machine, with 241 people on board, was headed for Honolulu, Hawaii. Shortly after the start, one of the engines broke down and started to burn. “We’re in distress. We need to turn left immediately,” the pilot of the Denver control tower reported.

Passenger Travis Loock told CNN that he heard a big blow about 20 minutes after takeoff. “It was the kind of sound you didn’t want to hear on the plane. I was very scared to see that the engine was missing on my side,” Loock later described. “We were glad we weren’t over the ocean we were heading for,” Loock added, alluding to the fact that the possibility of an air disaster would increase there.
Brenda Dohn, traveling with her children, saw smoke outside the window and knew something was wrong. “My daughter was sitting by the window and I said to her, ‘Don’t look and we’ll just pray.’ We held hands and said some prayers, “Dohn told CNN.
It wasn’t the neighbor’s trampoline. It was an airliner engine
While those in the air wished for a safe return to the airport, people on the ground began to fall from the sky. The large front circular engine cover fell right next to the house in Broomfield. At first, its owner, Kirby Klements, thought a trampoline from a neighbor had flown into his yard. “But as soon as I open the door, I see it’s the front of the plane’s engine,” Klements said.
Jim Hunter was training footballers on the local field when he saw the wreckage falling from the sky. He immediately drove his charges to safety. “They were just everywhere. The sky was full of pieces that fell on the field,” Hunter added.
The plane eventually returned safely to the airport. The US Federal Aviation Administration has ordered an extraordinary inspection of Boeing 777 aircraft with Pratt & Whitney 4000 engines. The suspension of this type of aircraft was also recommended by Boeing itself.
Only United Airlines operates in the United States. It has already announced that it has taken its 24 aircraft out of service. The same type of aircraft is also used by companies in Japan and South Korea.
