Called for a suspicious package, the deminers discover a bag full of kittens – West-France evening edition


A team of deminers was deployed on February 17 in front of a church in Ohio, United States. A suspicious package had been reported. The bag contained six kittens and their mother.

The happy outcome of a mine clearance operation is usually a relief. In this news item initially reported by the American media CNN, is added a beautiful story that moved animal lovers.

On February 17, the demining service of the Sheriff’s Office in Butler County, Ohio, United States, was deployed outside a church in the village of New Miami. A suspicious package had been reported to the police.

No ticking, but purrs

Upon their arrival, the authorities understand that the situation is special. “Specialists Mike Grimes and Det Detherag heard no ticking, but purrs”, said the sheriff’s office in a post on the social network Facebook.

Because in the sports bag deposited in front of the main entrance of the church, in the snow, there was no bomb or dangerous product. But a very young litter of kittens, born just hours before. The mother was also inside.

The bag also contained a note, on a napkin. Someone had written the name of the mother cat and the time at which she had given birth to her babies: “Mom’s name is Sprinkles. She gave birth at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17. “

The mother was trying to keep her babies warm

Sprinkles and her little family were turned over by authorities to Animal Friends Humane Society, an animal shelter in nearby Hamilton, where volunteers provided care and comfort.

There were six kittens. “The mom did her best to keep her newborns warm and to feed them, detail the volunteers in a Facebook post. The kittens were all wet with their mother’s urine, and they had to be groomed upon arrival. Sprinkles has been vaccinated and her blood test appears to show that she is in good health. “

On Friday February 19, the kittens and their mother were placed with a foster family. But the animal shelter promises that it will continue to regularly update the mother cat and her cubs.
