The international edition of the Federal News Agency tells about the main events that took place in Libya on February 22, 2021.
Events
Nearly two hundred migrants have been returned to Tripoli by Coast Guard officers, the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) naval headquarters said.
A ship with refugees capsized near the beaches of the capital on its way to Italy. As a result, 197 people were in the water.
The rescued were handed over to the police for further investigation. In the near future, they promise to deport all illegal migrants to their homeland.
Libya is actually the main transport hub in Africa through which refugees make their way to Europe. The Coast Guard captures migrants and most often places them in special detention centers, from where people often have to ransom. Many are sold into slavery. According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, 2,500 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya in the first two months alone.
