Two important pieces of news about the crown come from Israel. First: a new scientific study shows that the Biontek and Pfizer vaccine significantly reduces the transmission of the virus. And the second: Israel has already introduced corona passports.

An Israeli study gives reason to hope that the corona vaccine of the German pharmaceutical company Biontek and its American partner Pfizer significantly reduces the transmission of the virus. The results of the research conducted by the Israeli Ministry of Health in cooperation with Pfizer have not been published yet, but several media, including the Reuters news agency, have already had access to that data.
According to these sources, the vaccine can prevent the transmission of Sars-Cov-2 virus in asymptomatic cases by 89.4 percent, and in symptomatic cases by 93.7 percent.
“The study gives very clear initial indications that the number of infections is decreasing,” medical expert, member of the German Social Democrats (SPD) Karl Lauterbach told the public service WDR.
“If these results are confirmed, it would essentially allow for more normalcy.” Lauterbach believes that this can lead to collective immunity.
Research so far has only shown the extent to which the vaccine protects against the disease, but not whether it helps fight the spread of the virus. However, the authors of the Israeli study call for caution in interpreting the results, because, as the German news agency DPA writes, that could lead to an overestimation of the effects of vaccination on the spread of infections.
Protection against severe diseases – 99 percent
The Israeli Ministry of Health has also published new data on the effectiveness of the vaccine, according to which, after the second dose, Biontek and Pfizer in 95.8 percent of cases prevents infection with kovid 19, in 98 percent of cases prevents symptoms such as fever and difficulty breathing. , and in about 99 percent of cases it prevents the development of more severe forms of the disease that require hospital treatment and that can lead to death. Previous analyzes have shown that the vaccine is 95 percent effective.
It has also recently been reported that the vaccine has been shown to be very effective after the first dose: only two to four weeks after the first vaccination, the effectiveness is 85%, according to a study published in The Lancet.
Pfizer and Biontek have also announced that their vaccine can be stored at higher temperatures than previously known. Even when stored at minus 25 to minus 15 degrees Celsius, the vaccine remains stable. This allows the use of conventional pharmaceutical freezers and refrigerators. Until now, it was mandatory to store the vaccine at temperatures between minus 80 and minus 60 degrees Celsius.
Green passport – a pass for freedom
Israel is a world record holder in vaccination. From December 19 until today, about 4.3 first and almost three million second doses of the vaccine have been given there. Although the number of infected is still relatively high, it has been in constant decline in recent weeks. As part of the second step in easing the measures, shopping malls, museums, libraries, synagogues, churches and mosques are open in Israel on Sunday for those who have not been vaccinated. And schools are reopened for higher grades.
Anyone who has been infected or those who have been vaccinated, one week after the second dose, can order a vaccination certificate online. The personal data on that certificate is easily accessible by reading the QR code. Owners of such a certificate can then order the so-called. “green passport”, among other things, through an application called “Ramzor”. The passport allows entry to hotels, fitness studios and swimming pools, and from March it should be available in restaurants and bars.
There were problems with the registration through the “Ramzor” application in the first days, so the validity period of the confirmation was extended to two weeks. Israel envisions high fines for those who try to forge a passport. The Minister of Health even threatened prison sentences.
