To get vaccinated as soon as possible against Covid-19, reserved for the moment in the United States for over 65s, two American women presented themselves to a Florida vaccination center disguised as old ladies. The ruse did not at all amuse the local authorities, who deplored that they wanted to “steal” the place of priority people.
Such is taken who thought they were taking … To try to get their second injection of the Covid-19 vaccine administered as quickly as possible, two American women did not hesitate, on February 17, to disguise themselves “In grannies”, report it New York Times.
The two women hoped to deceive the employees of the vaccination center installed at the Orange County Convention Center in Florida. Currently, in the United States, only adults over 65, as well as healthcare workers, residents and nursing home staff are eligible for the vaccine.
A “bizarre” appearance and attitude
In a video shared by the New York Times , Raul Pino, director of the Florida health department in Orange County, specifies that the two women presented to the vaccination center on Wednesday, February 17, “Decked out in hats, gloves, goggles and masks”.
But upon their arrival, the employees of the center noticed that the two alleged old ladies “Looked weird”. They decided to intervene before they received an injection.
“We noticed that the two young women had disguised themselves as grannies to be vaccinated a second time. I don’t know how they managed to get their first dose of vaccine, ” Raul Pino testifies.
First betrayed by their appearance “Doubtful”, the two usurpers were quickly unmasked after checking their driver’s license. Their real name was indeed entered in the register of the vaccination center, but the dates of birth with which they had registered did not correspond to those on their license.
“You stole a vaccine from someone”
“Do you know what you did?” You stole a vaccine from someone who needs it more than you! “ In another video, including ABC News has obtained a copy, we see the two women, escorted out of the center, being arrested by an indignant man, who reproaches them for their « ridicule » and their “Egoism”.
“You are not going to have your second dose of the vaccine. So you just made us waste time ”, he adds, the first dose they had managed to get having become unnecessary for lack of a second injection.
The incident was reported to local authorities, but the two women, actually aged 44 and 34, have not been arrested. However, their names have been reported in the “vaccination software” so that they can only access the Covid-19 vaccine when they have been authorized to do so.

Determine if there were any breaches
The question now arises as to how these two women were able to obtain a first dose of vaccine.
“We will have to clarify things, in particular to check if they were really vaccinated by us, when they were it and what happened, on what date and at what time, and if there was shortcomings, flaws in the system “, Raul Pino details.
According to him, it is very likely that they benefited from the complicity of a person working on the site. The director of the Florida health department in Orange County has also said that he has reinforced the security of the vaccination center.
“We have seen an increase in the number of strange incidents. We have also noticed some suspicious people watching the site. That is why we asked for security reinforcements and installed cameras and other surveillance devices in the vaccine room ”, Raul Pino concludes.
