The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has detained nine employees of two legal organizations in New York – Dzhamgarov’s Firm and Russian America, who helped citizens of Russia and Ukraine to obtain asylum by fraudulent means.
The indictment was published on the website of the US Department of Justice. Both firms advised residents of Russia and the CIS on how to obtain a visa, the right to asylum or citizenship, realizing that clients are not entitled to this.
To apply for asylum in the United States, the Dzhamgarova Firm taught clients to lie under oath, telling fictional stories of persecution in their homeland because of their LGBT community. To do this, the organization hired writers and bloggers to write fake client affidavits.
Russian America employees helped clients create and maintain online blogs in which clients were portrayed as journalists who could be persecuted at home because of their fictitious political views. In addition, they, like the Dzhamgarov Firm, recommended that people lie about bullying on the basis of sexual orientation.
“The sophisticated deception allegedly created by groups of lawyers and managers in this investigation is striking … The creation of false narratives to hide the identity of asylum seekers in the United States threatens our national security, and we will continue to address this issue accordingly.” noted FBI Deputy Acting Director William F. Sweeney Jr.
Both cases are being investigated by the Office of Anti-Money Laundering and Transnational Criminal Enterprises.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, Kolomoisky was deprived of $ 17 million in the US due to the sale of his business center. At the same time, all the $ 17 million received from the transaction will be transferred to the account of the federal government, because later the court may confiscate these funds.
