Today, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković commented on the announcement of the owner of a cafe in Rijeka that members and sympathizers of the ruling HDZ were not welcome in his building and said that it was discrimination, and that the next step was fascism.
“This one from Rijeka is a blatant example of racism, one step closer to fascism. He is a politically illiterate person. We need a little pedagogy, don’t laugh,” said Plenković, who the media say was very nervous.
Asked what was discriminatory in that message, Plenković said:
“Where do you work? What house are you? Don’t ask me questions if you don’t know what it’s about. If you haven’t read, I suggest you read what these people wrote. Replace the word HDZ members with Jews and Serbs, for example, so we tell me if what they wrote is discrimination “, stated Plenković, the Croatian portal Index reported.
He added that it was the last cafe in the world, he would not go there.
The owner of the cafe answers: I don’t hate anyone, they write to me that I am a Serb Chetnik
The owner of the Rijeka cafe, Tomislav Kovačević, says that he is under great political pressure and that the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is trying to “push him, like any dissident, into a mouse hole”.
“I showed my snout, so it’s the logic of ‘let’s show what will happen to others who try the same thing’. But the more they shout, the more persistent I am,” Kovacevic, owner of the Rijeka cafe “Three Monkeys”, told the Croatian portal Index .
He reminds that Plenković told the journalist who asked him to comment on his message to HDZ members that she was unprofessional.
“I now tell him that he is not a professional, because he has not seen the comments of his like-minded people. He has not seen them write to me that I am a Serb Chetnik and various insults. I do not hate anyone, I am not so educated, and HDZ members are not a race for racism as he claims. Plenković should know that I am not his subject “, says the owner of the Rijeka cafe.
He also explained that HDZ members were not banned from entering the cafe, but that he was only told that they were not welcome.
He also explained that he wanted to show with a message on Facebook that he does not agree with the government’s policy and that, as he claims, he does not have a positive opinion about any political party.
“I am just reacting to these governments and the HDZ because they are in power … They are ruling and the responsibility is on them,” Kovacevic said, among other things.
The prime minister, he says, should know that “I pay him, not him me”.
“The fact that he said that he pays someone is a lie, we pay him and his. Through these compensations for employees in the catering industry, he only returns to us a small part of what we have given over the years, not to starve, because they imprisoned us scientific evidence that we are the source of the infection, “Kovacevic said.
Plenković about the HDZ candidate: Why would he have to know Balašević’s verses
Plenković also touched on the comments on the statements of the HDZ candidate for mayor of Zagreb, Davor Filipović, who said that he did not know Cyrillic and that he would not know how to read the word that the people of Zagreb wrote in Cyrillic in Ilica in honor of singer-songwriter Đorđe Balašević.
– Why does he experience attacks, because he is dangerous to political opponents, he is uncomfortable with them. Why would he have to know the verses of a song? What’s the problem? – Plenković asked.
Saying goodbye to Balašević, the people of Zagreb wrote the word “bećarac” in Cyrillic.
