THE Luca Atanasio, 44, took over as ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo October 2019, having arrived in the country two years earlier as head of mission, according to his official biography.
In the diplomatic branch entered in late 2003, after studying at the School of Commerce at Luigi Bocconi University in Milan. He started in the Department of Economic Affairs before working on African issues and international cooperation.
Abroad, he was initially appointed head of the financial and commercial department of the Italian embassy in Bern (2006-2010), then consul general in Casablanca, Morocco (2010-2013). After passing through Rome, in 2015 he also served as a consultant at the Italian Embassy in Nigeria.
