That is why, he believes, everyone should be extra careful when building new facilities, especially residential ones.
According to Mustafa’s regime, the weak earthquake that shook Gjilan on Saturday was data for seismologists, in order to know which areas in Kosovo and Metohija have the greatest seismological activity, reports Gazeta Express.
“We know from the past that this area, like Uroevac, Vila was shaken by a strong earthquake of 6.1 degrees in 1921, and Gjilan by an earthquake of 5.7 degrees in 2002. This earthquake shows us that it is a seismic area that needs to be monitor and an important parameter for builders in the area, “Mustafa said.
According to him, Kosovo is in an area with relatively high activity, which means that in the future it could be hit by large-scale earthquakes that can destroy or hijack buildings and leave victims.
“Based on previous studies, earthquakes up to 6.5 degrees could be repeated in the next 100 years. Areas that have similarities with this are Uroevac, Vitina, Gjilan, Prizren-akovica, Pe, Istok,” Mustafa said.
