Images exposing the Turkish president are making the rounds of the internet as, in the midst of a pandemic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan went at the funeral of a prominent religious leader, with hundreds of his fellow citizens … to be on top of each other.
The Sultan of the Bosphorus said goodbye to his close friend, the imam Mohammed Amin Sarats, who died of complications of the coronavirus, however, at the funeral that took place in Istanbul, the citizens were “pickled like sardines”, as shown by the photos posted on its website by the British newspaper «Daily Mail».
Today, we sent off our teacher Muhammed Emin Saraç, a scholar of hadith, tafsir and fiqh, to Hakk with all his lovers. May its place be heaven and its position be alive. It was the greatest of happiness to be demanded and authorized by him for many years. pic.twitter.com/irfXcfCNVZ

It is clear that the required safety distances were not observed, while in photos that were published, Erdogan at some point speaks to those present without wearing a mask.
With about 28,000 deaths from complications of Covid disease in Turkey and more than 2.5 million cases, one would expect that at least, in the presence of Erdogan, social distance measures would be respected to some degree.
However, the fact that the Turkish president … turned a blind eye to his friend’s funeral in Istanbul shows that he likes half-measures: yes, he wore the mask, but he did not order the authorities to dilute the citizens.

Mohammed Emin Sarac was a childhood friend of Recep and in fact at the funeral delivered by the Turkish president, he referred to what his imam friend had taught him. Just last week, the Turkish Ministry of Health recorded 51,980 cases and 606 deaths from coronavirus complications.
