The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Monday that in the last 24 hours, more than 1,600 new cases of Covid and 47 deaths in patients confirmed with the new coronavirus have been registered in the country.

According to GCS, until Monday, 781,329 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. 725,526 patients were declared cured.

In the last 24 hours, 1,634 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 307 people were reconfirmed positively.

By Monday, 19,894 people diagnosed with SARS – CoV – 2 infection had died.

In the last 24 hours, 47 deaths (31 men and 16 women) were reported, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Botoşani, Călăraşi, Caraş-Severin, Cluj, Hunedoara, Maramureş , Olt, Sibiu, Timiş, Vâlcea and Bucharest.

Of these, one death was recorded in the age category 30-39 years, two deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 7 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 13 deaths in the age category 60-69 years , 13 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 11 deaths in the category over 80 years.

46 of the recorded deaths were of patients who had comorbidities, and one deceased patient did not have comorbidities.

In the specialized health units, the total number of persons hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,461. Of these, 972 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 5,881,162 RT-PCR tests and 253,442 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 6,279 RT-PCR tests were performed (4,360 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,919 on request) and 3,976 rapid antigen tests.

A new tranche of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine is expected to arrive in Romania

The tenth tranche of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine arrives in the country on Monday. More than 200,000 doses of vaccine are coming. Most will arrive in Bucharest, and others in Brasov, Cluj, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara.

Transport to storage centers is provided by the manufacturing company, including by land. The vaccines are transported in special containers with carbonic ice and sealed foil.

27,944 people have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours. There have been 15 adverse reactions, one of which is severe.

The city of Galati has reasons to rejoice: the infection rate has dropped below 1.5 per thousand. Officially, the people of Galaţi have entered the green scenario.

This means that restaurants, cafes and cinemas will be open to half capacity. The protective mask remains mandatory in all closed and open spaces and traffic restrictions are maintained between 23.00 and 5.00.

Weddings, baptisms and anniversaries are prohibited.

Coronavirus in Romania Review Yesterday

In the last 24 hours, 2,419 new cases of coronavirus were registered, and 52 Romanians died due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. There are 968 patients in ATI. One death was recorded in the age group 20-29 years.

To date, on February 21, in Romania, 779,695 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed. 724,333 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, they were registered 2,419 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19).

To date, 19,847 people diagnosed with SARS – CoV – 2 infection have died.

Between 20.02.2021 (10:00) – 21.02.2021 (10:00) were reported 52 deaths (23 men and 29 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Botoşani, Brăila, Caraş-Severin, Constanţa, Cluj, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Maramureş, Olt, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiş, Vâlcea, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age group 20-29 years, 3 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 16 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 19 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 13 deaths in the over 80 years category.

50 of the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities, 1 deceased patient did not present comorbidities, and for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In the specialized health units, the total number of persons hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,182. Of these, 968 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 5,874,883 RT-PCR tests and 249,466 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 12,962 RT-PCR tests were performed (7,063 based on case definition and medical protocol and 5,899 upon request) and 3,683 rapid antigen tests.

In Romania, 38,251 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 10,317 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 56,346 people are in quarantine at home, and 136 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 1,720 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on February 20, 6,787 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to 1,448,650 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 2 criminal files were drawn up yesterday to thwart the fight against diseases, in which 2 persons are investigated, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.
