The satellite operator SES, one of the orbital satellite television stations operating in Riga, Zaķusala, has signed a long-term television content supply agreement with several European public service broadcasters.

Public service broadcasters that have signed contracts directly with SES include ARD and ZDF in Germany, the BBC in the UK, BVN in the Netherlands, and TV5 Monde and France 24 in France through partner Globecast, reaching more than 89 million satellite TV households via SES orbitals. satellites 19.2 degrees east and 28.2 degrees east.
The total amount of the long-term contract is 66 million euros, SES representatives informed the portal “Delfi”.
It is emphasized that with the measures taken to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, public service broadcasters in 2020 saw a rapid increase in viewers in all age groups, relying directly on linear television viewing for official and up-to-date information on the pandemic.
The SES orbital satellite fleet currently provides video content to 367 million households worldwide, including Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
