FLORIDA, KOMPAS.com – A Nile crocodile named Anuket had to undergo surgery in Florida, United States (US) for swallowing shoes belonging to tourists.
Initially, the tourist’s shoes fell off and landed in a crocodile enclosure at the St. Crocodile Farm Zoological Park. Augustine in December 2020.
Anuket, who lives in the cage with another crocodile, Sobek, ate the shoes CNN.

Various attempts have been made to get the shoes out of Anuket’s stomach. However, these attempts failed.
Veterinarians at the University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine operated on Anuket on February 5 after removing the shoe.

“Zoo treatment officer Garrett Fraess initially tried to remove the shoe but was unsuccessful,” reads the post.
After failing to remove his shoes, animal veterinary officers took Anuket to the University of Florida’s veterinary hospital.
Initially, a great veterinary surgeon, Adam Biedrzycki, tried to remove the shoes with a special method.

However, these attempts also failed.
Biedrzycki then performed a gastrotomy to make it easier to get the shoes out. This time, the operation was a success.
After the shoes were successfully removed, Anuket was returned to his cage and made a recovery.

Now, Crocodile Farm Zoological Park St. Augustine reports that Anuket has recovered but is not yet on display.
“His full recovery will take some time before he can rejoin Sobek,” the zoo said in a post on social media.
