Poland should announce a new rule this week that every foreigner must provide proof of a negative test for the corona virus before entering the country.

This was announced today by the Minister of Health of Poland, Adam Nijedielski.

Passengers who show evidence of a negative coronavirus test will not have to spend time in quarantine after entering Poland, said Nijedielski, adding that the country is facing the third wave of the epidemic, which will peak in late March or early April, Reuters reports.

“We predict that the culmination of the third wave will come at the end of March and the beginning of April, so we will have another month of continuous growth of the infection. We forecast about 10,000 to 12,000 new infections a day, which is a number that our health system has already dealt with, but we must we have in mind that mutations spread faster “, said Minister Njedeljski.

While in January the share of British and South African mutations in Poland was five percent, now, according to the Minister of Health, it reached 10 percent, and on Sunday almost 3,900 new infections were recorded, while on the same day a week ago an increase of 2,500 new infections was recorded. By the end of the week, Poland will introduce the obligation of a negative PCR test for everyone who wants to cross its western and southern border, and if they do not have it, they will have to be quarantined.

“We intend to do that as early as this week. The services must also prepare because that means the return of the Border Guard to the borders.”

Regular tests will also be needed for workers who cross borders because they are employed in a neighboring country. Minister of Health Njedjelski announced that if the measures are tightened, they will be introduced locally rather than generally for the entire country.

“We all have expectations that we need to get out of the aggravation and accept a certain measure of risk because our health system is more ready and vaccination is going properly. Resistance to the corona virus can already have about seven to eight million people,” said Nedjeljski.
