Boris Johnson is yet to reveal to the country what the plan is for the deflation, but the British press has already had access to some of the steps that will be taken, being a plan composed of four phases.
According to The Guardian, schools will reopen in the UK on 8 March, controlled visits to nursing homes will be allowed, and it will be possible for two people from different social bubbles to gather outdoors for coffee or a picnic. .
This opening of health rules in the public space will be extended later to March 29, in time for Easter, where it will already be possible for two families, one or a group of up to six friends, to join in outdoor activities. In addition, outdoor sports facilities – such as tennis, football and basketball – will reopen on the same date.
This decision by the British Government will therefore give priority to social contact between families and friends and not to the reopening of commerce and restaurants. This should only happen in the second phase, at the end of April, when bars and restaurants will be able to reopen to serve – but only in the open air – and several non-essential trade spaces may have their doors open again. University campuses will also resume face-to-face activity.
The third phase, in mid-May, will finally allow the opening of pubs and restaurants in indoor spaces, albeit with group limitations and imposed social distance. It is possible that hairdressers and beauty salons will reopen at this time, and it is also anticipated that families will be allowed to travel around the UK, albeit with restrictions.
Finally, the last phase should happen in June, with the lifting of restrictions on the tourism sector and greater permission for social activities.
