The Italian government is considering whether they will have to introduce new measures to combat the more contagious versions of the new coronavirus. The members of the government will meet on this topic on Monday, reports the German news agency dpa.
RIM
> A new government led by the Prime Minister Maria Draghija will examine current legislation on measures to contain the virus and what the next steps will be.
According to Italian media reports, Draghi is likely to set clearer boundaries regarding the level of risk posed by bars, restaurants, museums and gyms. However, it is supposed to involve parliament and the provinces more in decision-making.
This means that industries would be notified in advance of possible closures, rather than the day before, as has happened in the past. Countries would continue to be subject to three levels of threat and a travel ban between these areas. Other stricter restrictions could be imposed on some individual areas, such as Perugia, where the Brazilian version is expanding.
The number of infections in Italy has been stable for several weeks, and experts warn against the dangers of new versions. To date, more than 95,400 people have died as a result of the new coronavirus infection in the country, and more than 2.79 million infections have been confirmed.
