Russia is trying to disrupt the opening of the “Crimean Platform”, the main purpose of which is the deoccupation of the occupied peninsula.
About it on air “Direct” stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba.
“The deoccupation of Crimea is the only ultimate goal. Our task now is to unite all those who really care about the Crimea issue, so that those politicians… For example, there is a policy of non-recognition of Crimea. We need to make sure that it remains effective, that no one takes a step to the left or a step to the right. And that we use each other’s opportunities to deter those countries that are in a pro-Russian orbit and are trying to move away from this policy, “he said.
He reminded that there are several sanctions regimes related to Crimea, but there are cases when someone bypasses sanctions.
“We want to create a coordination mechanism where everyone sees gaps in the sanctions regimes and takes steps to fill them. And so on, and there are several other dimensions in which we will work, “said the Minister.
According to him, the Russian Federation is trying to disrupt the opening of the Crimean platform.
For me, the best proof that we are moving in the right direction with the Crimean Platform is the regular information I receive from various open and closed channels about what – I’m not afraid of the word – “kipish” and the nervous reaction caused by our actions. in the Russian Federation. That is, everyone is already mobilized there to oppose this initiative. There are two tasks.
The first is to discredit the Crimean platform at the outset as such. And the second is to disrupt the participation of world leaders in its inaugural summit, which will take place in August. That is, specific tasks in Russia are set by the relevant authorities. And the way they nervously and systematically began to react to this is additional proof that they are afraid and that they understand the threats we pose to them with the creation of the Crimean Platform, Kuleba added.
As you know, the European Parliament supported the establishment of the “Crimean Platform” and called on senior EU officials and EU member states to provide all necessary support to this initiative.
Earlier, the United States called on UN countries to participate in the “Crimean Platform”.
The Foreign Ministry said that a declaration on the deoccupation of the peninsula would be adopted following the Crimean Platform summit.
It will be recalled that Dmytro Kuleba stated that the Crimean Platform will be launched in 2021 at an international summit in Kyiv.
Earlier, Ukraine invited NATO member states and European Union countries to participate in the Crimean Platform.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council will be added to the “Crimean Platform”.
