“It looks like we have started the third wave of the pandemic. Lithuania’s trajectory in the space of two pandemic indicators is returning to the old tracks, which we have already ridden in October,” the department said in a statement issued on Monday.
It states that the number of new infections registered in a country within one day is no longer decreasing and the proportion of positive tests is growing.
“This trend has been going on for a week now, but now there is no doubt about it,” the statisticians admitted.
According to the data of the Department of Statistics, the 14-day cumulative number of infections per 100,000 population on February 22 in Lithuania is 242.9.
The proportion of positive virus tests in the last seven days reaches 7.8%.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 194,333 people have been confirmed with the new coronavirus in Lithuania.
The Covid-19 virus has claimed a total of 3,178 lives.
