The decrease in the number of cases registered in Portugal in the last few weeks is significant, but it will still be early for a partial return to normality. Despite this, the government is already preparing for the reopening of schools – that is where the deflation will begin in the country, Minister Mariana Vieira da Silva guaranteed on Saturday – and news of the return of sports activity is beginning to emerge. Oeiras, for example, has once again allowed surfing.
Meanwhile, and with a more controlled epidemic situation, countries are already planning a phased return to normality. This is the case of Israel and the United Kingdom, champions of vaccination, who are presenting plans for reopening. Italy is now preparing to follow British footsteps as far as the vaccination strategy is concerned, at a time when the United States has chosen to speak already of the possibility that the masks will continue to be used until 2022 – even after a return to normal between autumn and winter.
Check out the deconfiguration plans below:
After the discovery of a more contagious British variant, which forced a new confinement, Boris Johnson now seems focused on the recovery. After Saturday’s announcement – the country plans to give at least one dose of the vaccine to all adults by July 31 – the prime minister is now preparing to reveal the country’s deflation plan.
The announcement is already scheduled for this Monday (first in the House of Commons, at 3:30 pm, and then in a televised speech, at 7:00 pm) and Johnson should bring a phased plan divided into three moments, to prevent an early return to reality throw down the efforts of the past few weeks.
Thus, and according to the advanced by several British newspapers, schools will open even on March 8, with the good news to be given also to the elderly in homes – who will spend the same day being able to count on a face-to-face visit. The return of outdoor leisure activities, such as golf and tennis, as well as picnics, is also being considered. Both “The Sun” and “The Telegraph” further advance that it will be possible to meet two different families outdoors during the Easter period.
Number 10 Downing Street will be pointing to the reopening of non-essential stores for April, but hairdressers may have to wait a little longer – late April or even May – to be able to receive customers again.
It is not yet certain that commercial aviation will be able to resume in the coming months in the United Kingdom, but those responsible for the main airlines in the country (British Airways, easyJet, Jet2.com, Loganair, Ryanair, Tui and Virgin Atlantic) are asking Boris Johnson to come up with a recovery plan for the industry, which hopes to return to operation in the summer – in line with the vaccination plan.
It is the country where vaccination is most advanced and where good news about vaccination continues to emerge – Pfizer’s vaccine is 98.9% effective in preventing deaths and the first dose is 75% effective — and prepared now to start the deflation. This Sunday was the day to reopen much of the business and to start using the green certificate (which allows vaccinated and recovered from covid-19 access to some spaces).
At stake is street commerce, which was closed, open-air markets, shopping centers, libraries and museums, which can now open with strict rules to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
For their part, students in the fifth and sixth years of basic education and those in the last years of secondary education can return to classes in areas with a low mortality rate, after the youngest, pre-school and early years of basic education, they did it more than a week ago.
The opening of gyms, swimming pools, hotels and spaces for sporting and cultural events, such as theaters, was also authorized, but with restricted access only to those who have already received the two doses of the vaccine or overcome the coronavirus.
To prove it, vaccinated and recovered people have a so-called green certificate, a digital document valid for six months that identifies individual data with a QR code. It can be accessed through an application from the Ministry of Health that became available this week.
The lifting of the restrictions is part of the second phase of the deflation that Israel started on February 7, after a third national confinement of six weeks.
The beginning of the third phase is expected to take place on March 7, with the reopening of cafes or restaurants and the return to schools of students of courses that for now continue with virtual classes.
The gradual reopening in the country continues when the Ben Gurion international airport has remained almost completely closed since the end of January to prevent the entry of mutations of the virus, and this week its closure was extended until March 6.
Israel is continuing its vaccination campaign, the fastest in the world: more than 45% of the population has received at least one dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Other figures show that almost 2.9 million inhabitants have already been inoculated with the second dose. The government seeks to have the majority of the population immunized by the end of March, when elections are scheduled.
A return to normal is already being sought in the United States, which epidemiologist Anthony Fauci considers possible in the fall or winter of this year – thus agreeing with President Biden’s prediction that the US will be “approaching normal” by then. But don’t expect a complete return “to what it was in November 2019”, warns Fauci in an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union”. The widespread use of masks may still be prevalent in 2022.
At stake will be the “dynamics of the virus that is in the community”, so Fauci says he prefers caution to boldness and hopes that there is “virtually no threat” from covid-19 before saying that it is safe to abandon the use of a face mask. On a more positive note, the expert predicts that life will be “much better than what we are experiencing now”.
The winter storm that hit Texas – in a state of catastrophe – and other southern states last week caused “a temporary setback” and delayed about 6 million vaccines to be launched, but the resumption is expected to happen. in the next days.
The British strategy of vaccinating as many people as possible with the first dose of the vaccine is about to be followed by the government of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. According to the newspaper “La Stampa” this Sunday, the goal is to speed up the vaccination program against covid-19 in Italy – even if it means using all available doses, without reserving some of the vaccines for the second injection.
The decision is expected at a time when several regions have already asked the government to step up efforts to find more doses of vaccine. To speed up the vaccination campaign, Italy will be considering using all possible locations, public and private to administer vaccines, on a list in this Sunday’s “Corriere della Sera” that includes train stations and parking areas.
In addition to changing the vaccination strategy, this Monday’s government meeting will also serve to extend circulation restrictions beyond March 5, at a time when the current ban on movement between regions in the country is about to expire on Thursday -market.
