Police of Northern Macedonia can not find the former director of the Macedonian counterintelligence / UBK / and cousin of Nikola Gruevski Sasho Miyalkov and to hand over a house arrest warrant to him, prepared by the Criminal Court.
Almost the entire city is blocked by the police and try to locate Miyalkov, reports “A1on”. Lawyer Petar Vassilevski, who represents Miyalkov, declined to comment on the decision and instead closed.
There is no information from the Ministry of the Interior and does not answer whether he has been declared wanted by the state, what information is available in the public space.
It is only known that the police did not find Miyalkov in the house in Vodno, nor in the Marriott Hotel on Skopje Square, which he reported staying in when he was previously under house arrest.
Police have also blocked the Skopje Ring Road, and vehicles are being inspected. The verdict in the Target-Tvrdina case is expected on Friday.
The case is for illegal wiretapping of politicians, their family members, journalists, lawyers, prosecutors, mayors, one of the biggest wiretapping scandals in the country. The main question is not how the wiretapping was done, but who is behind the scandal. Massive wiretapping is from 2008 to 2015. More than 20,000 people have been wiretapped.
Miyalkov, who testified in court last month, said he was not involved in the affair of wiretapping and destruction of interception equipment. He said there were other eavesdropping systems in the country besides those of UBK. It is reported that in 2014, an Israeli company incorporated equipment into his office and discovered that there were three other systems. Former Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska also denied responsibility, saying she did not know what she was signing when a commission was set up to destroy the wiretapping equipment.
Twelve people are charged in the case, including former Security and Counterintelligence Director Sasho Miyalkov, former Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska and 10 other secret police officers. Goran Gruevski and Nikola Boskoski cannot be tried after fleeing to Greece.
