Recruitment will be done on these posts

According to the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia, women can apply for the posts of soldier, lance hero, hero, sergeant and staff sergeant. Saudi Arabia is believed to have taken this step under Vision 2030 of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Crown Prince is carrying out reforms to advance women in various fields.

Certain conditions have to be met

According to Arab News, women must meet the age and length criteria to join the army. Only such women will be able to apply, who have completed school education. Women marrying foreign men will not be included in the army. Women have to pass the admission process. If they have a criminal record, their application will be rejected.

Hathloul was punished

The government of Saudi Arabia first announced this plan to recruit women in the army in 2019. A year before this, in 2018, the government gave women the right to drive. However, it is different that Loujain Al-Hathloul, the activist who raised his voice for this right, was sentenced to six years.

Front was opened for driving

Lujain Al Hathlaul has recently been released. A lot of pressure was created on his release at the international level, after which he was released by the government. 31-year-old Lujain had opened a front against the government for lifting the ban on the driving of women in Saudi Arabia, due to which she came under the government’s target. Lujain spent 1001 days in detention and then in solitary confinement before the case began. He was prosecuted under charges such as agitating for change, resorting to internet to spread unrest and running foreign agenda.
