Leading American expert: masks will also have to be worn in 2022

US President Joe Biden’s health adviser Anthony Fauci said on Sunday that protective masks due to the new coronavirus would have to be worn in 2022, although the epidemiological situation around the world is expected to improve significantly by the end of this year. According to the latest data, almost half a million people have died from covid-19 in the United States.

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 18.1 million people were infected with the new coronavirus in the United States by Sunday, and nearly 499,000 died. The situation is improving, with 71,500 new infections reported on Sunday and 1,844 covid-19 patients dying, about a thousand less than in the past few days, STA reports.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on ABC television that after a standstill due to a major winter storm that hit much of the U.S. last week, vaccination has now been resumed. On Saturday and Sunday, they managed to partially close the delay in the delivery of six million doses of the vaccine. Two million doses have been delivered, and the rest will be available this week.

Fauci: Masks will have to be worn next year as well

Director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health and White House consultant for the new coronavirus Anthony Fauci commented on nearly half a million deaths due to covid-19 on Fox News on Sunday, saying it was a terrible historical milestone even as the situation improved.

U.S. President Joe Biden has set himself the goal of vaccinating hundreds of millions of people in the first hundred days of his term, which will be achieved and surpassed. Biden and health professionals don’t want to sound overly optimistic, though.

Nevertheless, Fauci continues to recommend social distance and wearing protective face masks. He expects the situation to improve significantly by the end of this year, but due to mutations in the new coronavirus, the mask will probably have to be worn in 2022. He told NBC that something so terrible has not happened for more than a hundred years since the flu pandemic.

American President Joe Biden he set himself the goal of vaccinating hundreds of millions of people in the first hundred days of his term, which will be achieved and exceeded. Biden and health professionals don’t want to sound overly optimistic, though. The president, among other things, because he wants $ 1.9 trillion from Congress to fight the pandemic and help the economy. If there are no major complications with mutations in the new coronavirus, otherwise the condition can be normalized by the summer, according to STA.
