According to Arab newspapers issued today, Monday, observers considered that the assassination attempt of Bashagha was “expected”, given the number of his enemies and opponents, warning of its consequences for the entire political process.
According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, close to Bashagha reported that the minister’s convoy came under fire from an armored car near the capital, Tripoli, and it soon became clear that the attackers belonged to the city of Zawiya, west of Tripoli, and that their car was carrying the slogan of the “stability support apparatus” that was developed by the government Al-Wefaq in the last period.
The newspaper added that the incident cast a shadow over the relationship between dozens of armed groups that nominally follow the National Accord Government, but compete with each other for power and influence.
Meanwhile, the Stability Support Agency came out to confirm that the matter was due to an exchange of “shooting between the agency’s affiliates and Bashaga’s guards,” saying in a statement: “A vehicle passing by the agency coincided with the passing of the Minister of Interior’s convoy, and immediately the minister’s guards were fired at the armored vehicle belonging to the agency without a face. Right, which led to the killing of a member of the organ, Radwan Al-Hanqari, from Al-Zawiya, and one of his comrades was injured.
For its part, Al-Arab newspaper said, according to some sources, that such an operation was expected for many enemies and opponents of Bashagha, warning of its consequences on the political process in the country, at a time when all eyes are on Sirte to follow the plenary session of the Libyan Parliament to give confidence to the new government.
On the other hand, the “stability support agency” accused the interior minister’s guard of poor coordination, stressing the denial of “any attempt to assassinate the minister,” pledging to pursue those involved in shooting his employees “according to the law and in accordance with the legislation in force that regulates the work of institutions in the country, away from false allegations and media fashions that do not.” It serves the relationship between the official security services in the country. “

For his part, Al-Libi 218 website stressed the conflicting narratives issued by the Ministry of the Interior of Al-Wefaq and the Stability Support Authority, after the issuance of two statements on opposite sides. Direct and unjustified from the minister’s guard.
The incident and its consequences put the new Libyan government in a difficult position, which is looking to stabilize itself, pending obtaining the approval of the House of Representatives, in light of the conflict between the factions in western Libya, and the various armed formations and militias competing.
