– It is a terrible shock for us. I didn’t know how to explain it to my child. I’ve never been so sad – commented on TVN24 Yvonne Arnesen, the owner of one of the 13 French bulldogs collected by officials.
Norwegian families bought the puppies via an advertisement on Finn.no. They were sold by a breeder who brought the animals from Poland via Sweden. The documents indicated that everything was in accordance with the procedures and that the animals were healthy. They were with their new owners from January.

But in February, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority became interested in the puppies, which found that the animals’ medical records were missing. The puppies were taken from their Norwegian owners and sent to a special shelter. They are at risk of dying due to the fear of transmitting infectious diseases, including rabies.
The final decision about the fate of the animals has not yet been made. The option also includes the return of the dogs to Poland, but the transport is hampered by the coronavirus pandemic. The vast majority of pet owners intend to fight for their pets to return to them.
An attorney was hired to represent 9 out of 13 puppy owners. Currently, he is fighting to ensure that animals are completely abandoned.
